Sierra Nevada Corporation — MRO Hangars #1-4

The Sierra Nevada Corporation MRO Hangars at Dayton International Airport are part of the company’s Aviation Innovation and Technology Center, a transformational development that supports some of the world’s largest aircraft maintenance operations. As the first large-aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility built in the Dayton region since World War II, these projects represent a significant investment in aviation infrastructure, workforce development, and economic growth.

The project includes four 100,000-square-foot aircraft hangars, each featuring a 72-foot clear height and 255-foot-wide door opening to accommodate large-scale aircraft maintenance and modification activities. Supporting amenities include administrative offices, overhead crane systems, and specialized fire suppression infrastructure designed for aviation operations. The massive structures required complex steel erection and coordination, with each hangar incorporating ten, 80-ton trusses. 

Shook completed all four facilities on an accelerated schedule, delivering four hangars in four years and showcasing our expertise in complex project delivery. The completed facilities strengthen Dayton’s position as a leading aerospace and aviation hub while providing SNC with state-of-the-art MRO capabilities.
