The Reid Health Connersville, IN Ambulatory Care Center is a 101,095 SF facility built to replace the aging Fayette Memorial Hospital to better align services with community needs. The single-story section includes a modern Emergency Department including two resuscitation rooms, 13 exam rooms, two behavioral health rooms, a 24-hour full-service lab, and an advanced imaging suite featuring MRI, two X-rays, two CT scanners, mammography, and ultrasound. A connected two-story Medical Office Building provides four primary care suites and three specialty care suites. Additional features include a generator-backed electrical system with a 12,000-gallon diesel tank, a two-bay ambulance garage including staff quarters, and an onsite helipad for emergency response.

The Skanska Shook joint venture managed preconstruction and shared supervision and management responsibilities. Shook led BIM coordination, while Skanska provided scheduling and SDI support.

Challenges such as material procurement and long-lead equipment were resolved through resequencing and temporary power solutions to maintain progress. Our successful approach to serving Reid Health included co-locating client offices onsite, daily stretch-and-flex safety routines, monthly schedule updates with trade partners, Procore for project management, drone photography for progress tracking, and a clear contact matrix for communication.

This project underscores Reid Health’s commitment to Fayette County by delivering a right-sized, low-maintenance facility that consolidates outpatient services, improves emergency care, and adds critical infrastructure like a helipad—ensuring long-term community healthcare needs are met.
