Shook Construction partnered with Jones & Henry Engineers for the design-build of the new Yellow Springs Water Treatment Plant. The project included construction of a new 1.0 MGD groundwater treatment plant and support facilities, along with decommissioning and conversion of the existing facility. The existing plant remained operational throughout installation, startup, and acceptance of the new system, requiring careful planning and coordination to maintain uninterrupted water service.

The new plant includes:

  • Iron and manganese removal
  • Pellet softening
  • Gravity filtration
  • Finished water storage and pumping
  • Chemical conditioning treatment systems
  • Carbon dioxide feed system
  • Pellet sand volumetric feed system
  • New high-service and backwash pumps
  • New septic system
  • Well field upgrades
  • Backup diesel generator
  • Support spaces, including administration, laboratory, electrical control, and mechanical rooms

Through collaborative delivery and careful sequencing, the project was completed two months ahead of schedule. The new plant provides the Village of Yellow Springs with modern, reliable water treatment infrastructure designed to improve water quality, strengthen operational resilience, and support long-term community needs.
