This data center expansion project supported the growth of one of Verizon’s primary East Coast mission-critical data centers. As a Tier III-certified facility serving national operations, the campus was designed with extensive redundancy, backup power generation, and advanced cooling infrastructure to ensure continuous uptime and operational reliability.
Working with Verizon over several years, Shook provided general contracting, construction management, preconstruction, budgeting, scheduling, and procurement support for multiple expansion initiatives. The facility was strategically built in phases, with modular mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that allowed for future expansion while maintaining continual operations.
The initial phase included construction of the building shell, substation, and a portion of the ultimate electrical and cooling infrastructure. The success of the initial development and its scalable design laid the foundation for subsequent expansions, creating a highly resilient and adaptable data center environment capable of supporting Verizon’s evolving operational needs.
