The Northwest Regional Water Treatment Plant Improvements project added membrane softening technology to Greene County, Ohio’s largest water treatment plant to remove magnesium and calcium. Delivered through a progressive design-build approach, the project also included three new gravity sand filters, increasing plant capacity from 10.5 MGD to 12 MGD, with provisions for future expansion to 16 MGD.
A new 20,000-square-foot pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) was constructed to house critical treatment and support systems, including:
- Reverse osmosis membrane softening equipment
- Membrane feed pumps
- Backwash feed pumps
- Membrane cleaning equipment
- Cartridge filtration equipment
- Interconnecting process piping
- Electrical room
- HVAC equipment
- Operations control room
- Restroom facilities
Through collaborative delivery, the project modernized Greene County’s water treatment infrastructure while improving operational reliability, water quality, and long-term capacity for the growing community.
