The Shook Foundation
An Enduring Resource for Those We Serve.
Established in 2022, The Shook Foundation was created to expand our commitment to our Mission, To Dramatically Improve the Communities We Serve. For decades, Shook teammates have invested their time and talents in their communities through volunteer service. The Foundation provides a structured way to amplify that impact through charitable giving and community investment.
Funded and operated by Shook Construction teammates, The Shook Foundation is guided by its Vision: “To enrich the communities where we live and work through engagement and investment.”
Through employee contributions and fundraising efforts, the Foundation provides meaningful financial support to nonprofit organizations and causes that matter most to our people. By pooling our resources, we create a greater impact than any one of us could achieve alone.

Supporting Organizations That Strengthen Our Communities
Since its launch in 2022, The Shook Foundation has proudly distributed more than $264,000 to 90 community organizations. Through grants championed by Shook teammates, we support nonprofit organizations locally and abroad that address a wide range of needs, including youth programs, food insecurity, education, health and wellness, community development, and more. Together, we are creating lasting positive change in the communities we serve.
“On behalf of the entire Miracle Clubhouse community at Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley, thank you for your generous support. Your partnership ensures that individuals living with a persistent mental illness have a safe, caring place to connect, build hope, and work toward recovery. Because of supporters like you, recovery is possible.”
Amanda Williams, Director of Development, Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley
“The Shook Foundation’s $1,250 grant helped us achieve two critical objectives at the City of Peace Safe House in Kenya: ensuring immediate maternal safety and sustaining trauma-informed healing services for young mothers who have survived sexual violence. A key goal of our program is to provide rapid, dignified response when girls arrive in crisis. … One of the greatest challenges we face is covering urgent medical and maternal care costs for girls who have no financial resources. Without flexible funding, delays in hospital access, medication, or essential supplies can put both mother and baby at risk. This grant allowed us to overcome that barrier.”
Nuna Gleason, Founder & Executive Director, Wounded Healers International
“The generous grant funding from the Shook Foundation helped cover the cost of the services provided by our professional grief counselors in the Pathways of Hope grief counseling program. … Pathways of Hope is entirely funded by philanthropic support. Without generous donations and grants, such as the grant from the Shook Foundation, this necessary program, which greatly benefits the Dayton community, would not exist.”
Andrea Kowaleski, Grant Writer, Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton
100% of Donations Support Community Impact
Because The Shook Foundation is operated internally with no administrative overhead, every dollar raised goes directly toward nonprofit organizations and charitable causes. In addition to employee contributions, we host fundraising events — including our annual golf outings — to grow the Foundation and expand our ability to support organizations.
While directed by The Shook Foundation, funds are managed through The Dayton Foundation to ensure transparency, accountability, and long-term sustainability. A dedicated Board of Directors, comprised of Shook teammates, provides leadership and stewardship to ensure Foundation resources are invested responsibly and aligned with our Mission.
Our Grant Process
The Shook Foundation’s grant process is employee-driven. Grant requests are submitted by Shook Construction teammates on behalf of nonprofit organizations they personally support and care about. To maintain the Foundation’s Mission and foster employee engagement, grant requests are not accepted from outside organizations or individuals. All funding decisions are reviewed and approved by the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
