As Shook Construction celebrates its 100-Year Anniversary, the company is evolving its executive leadership structure to strengthen operational excellence, support long-term growth, and invest in the people and capabilities that drive success.

The leadership changes, effective October 5, reflect Shook’s ongoing commitment to building a strong, resilient organization capable of meeting the needs of its clients, communities, and teammates for years to come.

“Throughout our history, Shook has succeeded by embracing change while staying true to the values that define who we are,” said Chris Halapy, President and CEO. “These leadership updates strengthen our ability to execute our strategy, develop our talented teammates, and continue to deliver exceptional results for our clients and partners.”

As part of the executive leadership evolution:

  • Joe Mellon will continue serving as Chief Operating Officer, driving operational excellence and project delivery across the company.
  • Matt Danis has been appointed Chief Strategy Officer and will spearhead Shook’s growth initiatives and long-term strategic direction.
  • Liz Militello has been appointed Chief Human Resources Officer, expanding her leadership of talent development, culture, and workforce strategy.
  • Nora Loftus has been appointed Chief Legal Officer and will lead legal and risk management strategy as a member of the executive leadership team.
  • Chris Shafer will continue serving as Chief Financial Officer, guiding the company’s financial strategy to support long-term strength and future growth.

Additionally, Brett Connolly has been named Vice President and Great Lakes Regional Manager, succeeding Danis in the role and overseeing operations and client relationships throughout the region.

The updated leadership structure better positions Shook to execute its strategic priorities while expanding the company’s capacity to support project delivery, strengthen client relationships, advance growth opportunities, and develop future leaders.

Founded in Dayton, Ohio, in 1926, Shook has built a reputation for delivering complex projects that help communities learn, heal, work, and thrive. Guided by its Mission, “To Dramatically Improve the Communities We Serve,” the company remains focused on creating lasting value for its clients, partners, teammates, and the communities where it works.

“Looking ahead, we’re focused on building upon the strong foundation established over the past 100 years,” said Halapy. “By investing in our leadership team and ensuring we are organized around the areas most critical to our long-term success, we are positioning Shook to continue serving our teammates, clients and communities with excellence for generations to come.”
