Big Milestone at Middletown’s Main and Manchester Improvement Project

Middletown CSO Basin

Projects

We’ve reached a big milestone at the City of Middletown, Ohio’s Main & Manchester Improvement Project.

Shook is the design-builder, in partnership with Gresham Smith, on this project, which includes the installation of a 5.1-million-gallon, buried storage reservoir to reduce the number of combined sewer overflows into the Great Miami River. Backfill of the project site is complete.

While things are starting to look serene above ground, there’s plenty going on underground — all equipment is in place and being tested. Next up are concrete walks and landscaping. Acceptance testing will begin in November.

Three large blue and silver industrial pumps installed on a concrete floor, with vertical metal pipes attached, in a dimly lit utility or mechanical room. Loose wires and a chain are visible around the equipment.
Concrete utility box containing multiple black pipes with valves, gauges, and labels; puddles of water on the floor; various cables and conduit attached to the walls; outdoor setting.
