Women in Construction Week: Angel Fortner

2026 Women in Construction Week

It's Women in Construction Week! Throughout the week, we will feature women at Shook across various positions as they talk about what inspired them to a career in construction and share advice for women interested in the field. Stay tuned to celebrate them with us!

Say hello to Angel Fortner, a Project Superintendent in Shook's Mid-Atlantic Region. She proudly brings 13 years of construction experience. As a Project Superintendent, her responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations in the field, problem-solving, managing subcontractors, helping coordinate schedules, and ensuring quality and safety on the jobsite.

  • What inspired you to pursue a career in construction?
I was inspired by the ever-changing atmosphere, the opportunity to build great things with my own hands, and the satisfaction it brings when you get to see the end result of your efforts.

  • How do you see the role of women evolving in construction?
A woman’s evolving role in construction will bring unique strengths of broad perspectives, attention to detail, and emotional intelligence — all of which are vital to the construction industry.
