Women in Construction: Esme Garcia

We continue Women in Construction Week by featuring Esme Garcia, a Project Support Specialist in Shook's Central Region.

MEET ESME.

Going on two years with Shook, every day for Esme is a little different. As a Project Support Specialist, she manages multiple Shook projects in both Indiana and Ohio, ensuring compliance with deadlines and required documentation while also processing subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders. 

• What inspired you to pursue a career in construction?
  "I’ve always enjoyed helping communities, and while I did not have a background in construction, I love that our work creates establishments that people will use and benefit from."
   
• What advice would you give to young women considering a career in construction?
  "If you’re curious, dip your toes in and you’ll see how rewarding of an occupation it is."
   
• How do you see the role of women evolving in construction?
  "The role of women in construction is evolving towards greater inclusion, leadership positions, and more skilled roles."
