Siler City Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project

Work is moving ahead at full speed at the Wastewater Treatment Plant improvement project in Siler City, NC. 

Structural concrete is 60% complete on this $62 million project for which Shook is serving as General Contractor. To date, teams also have:

  • Placed 6,125 cubic yards of concrete
  • Set 650 tons of rebar
  • Placed 8,500 tons of stone
  • Excavated 50,000 cubic yards of soil

The work continues. Coming up:

  • Disc filters will arrive from Sweden by the end of September
  • 2000KW generators will arrive by the end of November
  • Clarifier equipment is expected on site before the end of the year

Several municipalities and entities — Siler City, City of Sanford, NC, and TriRiver Water — are collaborating on this transformative project, which will increase water capacity for the growing region. The project is expected to be complete in 2027.
