Progress at the Bedford Heights Wastewater Treatment Plant

Bedford Heights Wastewater Treatment Plant

Our Bedford Heights Wastewater Treatment Plant team is making great progress on the Phase 1 Improvements Project.

Work is moving at full speed on the new 2.25-million-gallon equalization basin that will help attenuate flow rates during wet weather.

Teams are also busy constructing the new headworks/influent pump station building, including wet wells, which will increase influent capacity to 28 MGD.

Other work underway includes:

  • Upgrades to plant-wide electrical systems with installation of a new standby generator and primary/secondary switchgear sets.
  • Conversion of existing pre-aeration tanks to grit removal systems through structural concrete renovations and installation of grit collection pumps and equipment.
  • Installation of process piping to tie the new headworks facility into the existing plant.

This year, the project team will target rehab to the city’s existing plant, with renovations to existing primary and secondary clarifiers, aeration tank improvements, new instrument and control systems, and critical structural repairs.

We’re proud to improve reliability while supporting the long-term sustainability of the region’s natural waterways.
