Provides field direction for one or more crews by calculating land boundaries in several locations, creating maps of survey results.

Provides field direction for one or more crews by calculating land boundaries in several locations, creating maps of survey results.

KEY INFORMATION

  • Data collection/record field notes
  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Boundary and topographic surveys
  • Shoot in points/corners
  • Set stakes for grade/cut/fill
  • Place offsets for curb staking, manhole locations, etc.
  • Stake out for storm and sanitary sewer lines, building/property corners, etc.
  • Experience/training on TopCon MAGNET software is preferred but not required.
  • While not performing surveyor duties, will be required to do general trades construction work.

  • Associates Degree in Land Surveying
  • Well-developed understanding of construction and commercial survey work.
  • Working knowledge of Trimble or TopCon technical software, field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations.
  • 1 year experience with AutoCAD, Business Center or CAD equivalent preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals.  Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of the organization. Ability to communicate and understand requirements of various project types and to work with different personality types. 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and complex changes in elevation.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Familiar with Microsoft Office, Autocad, and Viewpoint software, smart phones, tablets and robotic total stations. Must be able to read and understand project drawings and specifications.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.  Motor Vehicle report required.

OSHA 10 hour required, OSHA 30 hour preferred

Physical Demands:

Heavy or high amount of physical exertion. High manual dexterity or physical manipulation. Maximum or high level of physical stamina and endurance. Maintain regular and punctual attendance, work overtime as assigned, travel overnight as required, drive long distances, work in cold, hot, dusty, loud environments, and comply with all company policies and procedures including safety.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
