Assist and support in overall direction of Virtual Design and Construction department within Shook Construction and provide project specific resources for project pursuits and management.


  • Develop, integrate, coordinate, and manage digital models for design, construction, and field use.
  • Lead or oversee the 3D coordination efforts for given projects per Shook coordination standards.
  • Map 3D models to the building schedule for 4D simulation.
  • Review 3D models produced by architects/engineers and evaluate conformance to proper design document requirements and assess constructability of project.
  • Assist in processing models for estimating purposes
  • Help manage our BIM application capabilities, training programs, and provide training support to our operations staff leveraging Virtual Design and Construction applications.
  • Coordinate and prepare models with field engineers to export layout points for use with field survey equipment.
  • Create model content for renderings and animated video clips to support project pursuits.
  • Prepare models to be used for safety planning and site logistics.
  • Research, develop, and implement processes for the use of supporting new Virtual Construction technologies as part of the delivery of construction services.
  • Act as a resource to subcontractors utilizing Virtual Design and Construction to coordinate MEP and structural trades; including technical information and process support.

  • Ability to review and understand contract documents (drawings and specifications)
  • Ability to work and produce quality deliverables in design authoring tools (ex: Revit, Navisworks, Sketchup, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • A thorough understanding of common building systems as well as related means and methods
  • Experience in Dynamo or other data driven coding software is a plus.
  • Physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 25lbs., seeing and reading
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in a construction related field preferred

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write and summarize meetings into meeting minutes and email correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employee of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Technically proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook required. Experience with Revit and Navisworks programs are required. Experience with additional Autodesk Suit Products, Sketchup, Lumion and Adobe Suite products are a plus.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record. Motor Vehicle report required.

Physical Demands:

Light or low amount of physical exertion. Limited manual dexterity or physical manipulation. Minimal or low level of physical stamina and endurance. Maintain regular and punctual attendance, work overtime as assigned, travel overnight as required, drive long distances, work in cold, hot, dusty, loud environments, and comply with all company policies and procedures including safety.
