Shook's Construction Professionals Go Above and Beyond for a Large Telecommunications Client

Early last month, Shook's team received an early morning distress call from a confidential telecommunications client's Property Management. A pipe had frozen and burst on the 5th floor of the main Central Office building serving all of downtown Cleveland. The group immediately headed to the building to assist. On arrival they found water pouring down the elevator shafts into the lobby and below. With the elevators out of service they proceeded to run up the stairs to the 5th floor (the building has double height floors, so the equivalent of 10 flights of stairs) where they found water everywhere. As one would expect this water found every crack and/or penetration and was raining down on the 4th floor, 3rd floor, etc…. The team went to work with plastic sheeting, mops, shop vacs, submersible pumps and squeegees, while working with Property Management to get the line shut down and repaired. Client employees, Shook personnel, and a group of valuable subcontractors that responded immediately worked side by side throughout the day. By 4pm the team had the water cleaned up, AND THE CLIENT DID NOT LOSE SERVICE!

Exhausted from their efforts, the team left with a sense of pride for a job well done. The feeling was short-lived. At 5:30pm the team received a call that the same line had let go again and that Shook was needed. The team scrambled back to the site and went back to work alongside our client's Property Management partners. The water was contained and cleaned up, again WITH NO LOSS OF PHONE SERVICE!

As a company we often ask what it is that makes the client relationship a success. The answer is simple – the people do. Our people, our client's people and our subcontractor’s people – plain and simple.
