Sterling Commerce

The Sterling Commerce Data Center project called for our project team to strip the infrastructure of the building's fourth floor and reroute all wiring and conduit to the buildings first floor, crossing through the building's main lobby in the process. The first floor then had to be renovated to create an environment that could sustain 20,000 SF of data center equipment. The Tier IV classification of the data center called for multiple active power and cooling distribution paths, redundant components, and is considered fault tolerant with over 99.995% site availability. Further complicating the project was the need to keep the third floor of the building operational and undisturbed for the duration of the project.

Equipment installation included 30 and 20 ton CRAC units, totaling 15 in all. Additionally the project called for two 750 KVA UPS systems, with eight 225 KVA Power Distribution units, and four Static Transfer Switches to feed four Remote Distribution Cabinets. New Standby Switchboards and Automatic Transfer Switches were also installed. The Power Distribution Units required a web based monitoring system for the "mission critical infrastructure" along with Branch Circuit Monitoring.
