Shook Receives Smart Papers Project

Shook was recently awarded the construction contract for the Smart Papers manufacturing plant in Hamilton, Ohio. The $30 million project will create a high efficiency energy facility that will allow the plant to produce all of its products using 'green' steam power which will make the plant completely carbon neutral. The facility will be co-generation, meaning it will use biomass fuel produced from yard waste, industrial wood and fiber waste. As a result the plant will cease to emit carbon dioxide - the world's most prevalent greenhouse gas. This will put Smart Papers well ahead of the curve regarding Congress' initiative to eliminate all carbon-dioxide emissions by the year 2025. Construction on the 40-megawatt system will include the installation of six turbines and three condensers as well as a cooling tower and auxiliary equipment.
