Nottingham Residual Facility
This project consisted of building a new residuals handling facility to process sludge from four sedimentation basins. The residuals facility consists of two 75 FT in diameter gravity thickener tanks, sludge storage and batch tanks, and a residuals building containing the sludge force main with transfer pumps and piping. The residual building also has an electrical room containing switchgear/MCC's and a new operator control room. The residuals facility is connected to the existing plant via a concrete tunnel which carries piping and electrical conduit. Each of the four sedimentation basins has an upper and lower pass with three longitudinal and one cross collector in both the upper and lower half of the basin which are between 340 and 370 FT long. Due to a long material delivery time each of these four basins had to be completely rehabbed in less than four months. There were sludge pumps and piping associated with each basin that were temporarily connected to an existing force main until the new residuals facility was put online. |
