Shook is committed to developing and maintaining substantial opportunity and participation for minority, women and disabled veterans business enterprises. Our strategy includes DVBE searches through U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, maintaining and updating our list of approved M/WBE-DVBE contractors, assisting M/WBE-DVBE contractors in the certification process and meeting with the contractors to explain the type of work available, the location of the work and the training requirements. We also work to release bid packages with scopes designed to highlight the M/WBE-DVBE contractor's capabilities with our vision of how to best utilize their strengths. We also work with the M/WBE-DVBE contractors to bid the projects within their experience level. As their experience grows, we work with them to bid the more difficult projects.

The Building Blocks program was designed to identify and mentor M/WBE-DVBE contractors with the capacity and experience commensurate with the designated projects. We work with the identified businesses to assist them with many aspects of business that may not be available to them due to their size and scale. Our team is committed to utilizing our resources to identify and work with as many qualified and capable minority and disadvantaged subcontractors and suppliers as possible.
