Community Tissue Services

Shook Construction recently completed the construction management services for the Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services' new 95,000 SF processing facility located in Kettering, Ohio. The state-of-the-art production facility incorporates 18 class-100 clean rooms to provide an assortment of tissue and skin products for the rapidly changing needs of medical professionals and patients. This new facility is fifth largest tissue bank in the United States.

As the owner has never been involved with a project of this size and complexity, they were looking for a trusted advisor to help them navigate through the construction process. Shook’s references from similar projects praised our ability to understand a client’s organization and truly function as an extension of our client’s staff. This proved to be a key component in the selection process.

Now that the project is complete, Dr. David Smith (chief executive officer of CTS) shares, "It was one of the easiest projects we've ever been involved in. There were literally no surprises."

The project was not only completed on time, but it was also completed 10% under the $40 million budget.
